Refuge in the Time of Trouble

Here is some encouragement for those who are seeing the signs of the nearness of the coming of the Lord and would like to live through until He comes.

"The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest, though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely." Isa. 32:17-19.

"I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed." Ps. 57:1.

"I saw that our bread and water will be sure, and that we shall not lack or suffer hunger; for God is able to spread a table for us in the wilderness." EW 56.

"I saw the sword, famine, pestilence, and great confusion in the land. The wicked thought that we had brought the judgments upon them, and they rose up and took counsel to rid the earth of us, thinking that then the evil would be stayed.

"In the time of trouble we all fled from the cities and villages, but were pursued by the wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with a sword. They raised the sword to kill us, but it broke, and fell as powerless as a straw. Then we all cried day and night for deliverance, and the cry came up before God." EW 33, 4.

"When tempted to sin, let us remember that Jesus is pleading for us in the heavenly sanctuary. When we put away our sins and come to Him in faith, He takes our names on His lips and presents them to His Father, saying, 'I have graven them on the palms of my hands; I know them by name.' And the command goes forth to the angels to protect them. Then in the day of fierce trial He will say, 'Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.' What are the chambers in which they are to hide? – they are the protection of Christ and holy angels." 4 BC 1143.

"The people of God will not be free from suffering; but while persecuted and distressed, while they endure privation, and suffer for want of food, they will not be left to perish. That God who cared for Elijah, will not pass by one of His self-sacrificing children. He who numbers the hairs of their head, will care for them; and in time of famine they shall be satisfied. While the wicked are dying from hunger and pestilence, angels will shield the righteous, and supply their wants." GC 629.

"Soon God is to rise out of His place to shake terribly the earth, and to punish the wicked for their iniquity. Then He will stand up in behalf of His people, and will give them His protecting care. He will throw His everlasting arms about them to shield them from all harm." GW 265.

"I saw a covering that God was drawing over His people to protect them in the time of trouble; and every soul that was decided on the truth and was pure in heart was to be covered with the covering of the Almighty." EW 43.

"Fearful tests and trials await the people of God.... But in the midst of the time of trouble that is coming...God's chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his host cannot destroy them, for angels that excel in strength will protect them." 9T 17.

"I saw that God will in a wonderful manner preserve His people through the time of trouble." 1T 353.

"Let the nations be roused; let them advance into the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations on every side. Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.... Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.... The Lord will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the Lord will be a refuge for His people, a stronghold for the people of Israel." Joel 3:12-16.
