Dwelling in His Place

"Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellow man, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usery and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken." Ps. 15:1-5.

Note: Slander is when I see something in the life of another person, make negative judgments about them or accept the judgments of others, and pass this around as fact, thus blackening the reputation of that person so their influence is rendered of no effect for God. Satan did this very work in heaven; thus slander is against God himself.

"He that taketh up a reproach against his neighbor cannot receive the approval of God." 5T 615.

If we have been the victim of such slander, Psalm 17 is helpful to read and claim:
"Hear, O Lord, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer – it does not rise from deceitful lips. May my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right. Though you probe my heart and examine me at night, though you test me, you will find nothing; I have resolved that my mouth will not sin. As for the deeds of men -- by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not slipped. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.... Rise up, O Lord, confront them, bring them down; rescue me from the wicked by your sword. O Lord, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life." Ps. 17:1-14.

"If today we would take time to go to Jesus and tell Him our needs we should not be disappointed. He would be at our right hand to help us." KH 259.

"There is no use looking to our own defects. Looking unto Jesus, the darkness passes away, and the true light shineth.... We are safe if we follow where the Master leads the way.... Let your heart repose in His love." 3 BC 1143.
